Programs and Services

We follow the Manitoba provincial curriculum to ensure our students graduate with recognized credits and strong academic foundations. At the same time, our teaching is rooted in Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and values, so that learning goes far beyond academics.

Education at Mantou Sakahigan Kiskinamakewikamik School is guided by a clear mission-to provide academic excellence while celebrating and fully integrating Cree culture, heritage, and language. Our vision is to prepare our youth not only for their future careers, but also to be proud leaders in their community. By blending identity, tradition, and academic readiness, we help students grow in both confidence and knowledge, grounded in their culture and prepared for life ahead.

  • Elders and Knowledge Keepers guide students through storytelling, teachings, and cultural skills

  • Land-based education brings learning outdoors, connecting students to the land, environment, and traditional practices

  • Seasonal activities and cultural celebrations weave tradition into everyday school life

  • Students explore Cree language, history, and values across subjects

  • Technology and community partnerships strengthen learning while supporting cultural programs

With support from Manitoba First Nations SchoolNet (MFNS) and others, we offer resources, cultural programs, and technology to strengthen learning.

Our Role in the Community

We are more than a school-we are a cornerstone of community life in God's Lake Narrows. We bring people together through:

  • Cultural gatherings and feasts

  • Sporting events and recreational activities

  • Student leadership and mentorship opportunities

  • Programs that build academic achievement, cultural pride, and personal growth
